You’ve probably heard some of the jokes about how bad the economy is. It’s great fodder for comics. One guy joked that the economy is so bad that “The economy is so bad that Angelina Jolie is now adopting an American kid.” Another guy quipped that “The economy is so bad that a woman got an exorcism. But when she couldn’t afford to pay for it they had to “re-possess” her. And Jay Leno remarked that “Times are so bad that six of OctoMom’s 14 kids are already working for Nike.”Unfortunately, there is a lot of negative spin rolling around and some folks really do believe in the Rush Dumbbells of the world that any rescue plan is doomed to fail. However, when I meet someone who starts to whine about how bad the economy is, I do a little Jedi-Mind trick and tell them that the economy is gonna go bananas in June 2009. How do I know this?

Do I know this for a fact? Can I prove it? Am I psychic? No, not at all. I just know the power of a single thought. After all, that’s how any great invention starts– with a single thought. Because thoughts are things, incredibly powerful things that can trigger the mind into thinking of ways and means of how something can be done. People like Edison,Marconi, Alexander Graham Bell and others have proved it. When you start to believe something can happen, it creates a chain reaction for it becoming so. In real estate for that to happen, of course, the phone needs to start ringing in March, April and May, so I am envisioning that happening for me. I visualize buyers showing up in platoons at my open houses. I see multiple offers being faxed to me on all my listings. I envision writing several purchase agreements and foresee that I will be opening lots of escrows quickly and easily.

For that to happen for me in real estate, the phone needs to start ringing in March, April and May so I start by contemplating that happening. Then I see myself showing buyers houses, and platoons of buyers storming my open houses. I envision purchase contracts being faxed to me and imagine myself writing purchase agreements. I expect to be opening lots of escrows that will close quickly and easily. You might think this will never work, and I know how you feel. Many people have felt this way, that somehow this is just the calm before the storm. It’s gonna get worse before it gets better or this isn’t the time for positive thinking.Or just that now isn’t the best time to purchase property. But what I have found however, is that by making a timeline for something to happen, that I’ll work harder to make it into my reality. Ever hear the joke about the blonde on the airplane?

A beautiful young blonde woman boards a plane heading to New York. She’s holding a ticket for the economy section, but when she gets to her seat, she looks into the forward cabin and decides to take one of them. The flight attendant noticing her sitting in first class, tells the girl to return to her original place but the blonde refuses to do so. Troubled, the flight attendant asks her flight manager what to do. The flight manager says that he has a blonde girlfriend, and not to worry. He approaches the beauty and whispers something in her ear. She immediately rises, says “Thank you so much, now I understand”. After hugging him, she returns to her seat in the economy section. The flight attendant is stunned and asked the flight manager what he had said to the woman. He smiles and says, “I just told her that the first class section isn’t going to New York.” Like the flight manager, tell everyone you meet the positive outcome that you expect to happen, and like the airline flight manager, some amazing and wonderful things can result for you!
