Many of us, when searching for our ideal business opportunity, would prefer one that can give us consistent income for the minimal amount of effort. The beautiful thing about doing work on the Internet is that it rewards those people who choose to work smarter, but not necessarily harder.
Working from home, through the magic of the internet, is one of the greatest business opportunities since the California Gold Rush. It seems like everybody is out there, trying to make a buck online. Fortunately for you, potential entrepreneur, for all the competition there is, very little of it can threaten you if you know what you are doing.
Most people at this point will tell you, if there is money to be made in a niche, there will already be a couple competitors in it already. Perhaps you will come across a niche that has no competition in it that might be a potential goldmine, but the fact of the matter is that 99.9% of the time that simply is not the case. Either the available products dont convert well enough, the demographic doesnt buy, or it requires too much effort. That being said, any competitors that you may find in a market are probably making money.
Therefore, observe the competition. They are going to spend the money and time finding out what works. Once theyve got a watertight strategy, they are going to capitalize on it. Meanwhile, you may spend, make that waste, plenty of time and funds going through the same steps that they did. Why? Its as easy as observing their marketing efforts and applying the same principles to your own business opportunity, free of charge, of course.
Strategic visioning is finding what works, and what does not. Basically, what you have to do is look at the competition. Find out what is working for them. Very rarely will you see a completely original idea in the world of marketing. They can work, but they more often than not fall flat. Big risks can have big rewards, but if you repeat a formula that works, youll more than likely come out ahead. So if all your competitors, selling a specific product, stress a benefit about said product, chances are you MUST focus on that benefit too.
A marketing campaign is a never-ending process. You must always be changing and testing new things in your campaign to squeeze every last possible dollar out of your chosen niche. If your competitor has any idea what they are doing, they are doing the same thing. Imitating what they have done so far will get you at least caught up to them, right? After that, you may feel free to do your own split-testing following your own intuition and ideas, but always remember to keep an eye on the competition.
If you notice that they are doing something different, say targeting a different keyword phrase, for example, take note of it. If they are still targeting it after a long period of time, chances are it is making them money, and you should target it in your own business opportunity. Those who dont change will die!
That being said, an effective list of goals for how you are going to make yourself more competitive (tweak the sales copy, make your AdWords campaign more efficient, build links) is definitely what is going to help you stay focused and reach your goals. However, goals dont accomplish themselves just because you put them on a list. Its just a tool to keep you focused.
