Pay per click advertising

Pay per click is a very important tool to advertise your business. In fact, it is probably one of the most unique and effective ways to promote your business and take on new clients. Whereas in the past you had various choices that might work, now you can almost exclusively use pay per click advertising. In the past you might have to use billboard advertising, newspaper, radio, or television. You might even see advertising on the side of a bus or on a bench. Before the advent of the internet, television was perhaps the most effective means of communicating with your target audience.

The problem with this was that television advertising could be very expensive, so the average business person could not use it. This is especially true if you tried to target a national audience. The only companies that could really afford to do this were large corporations. The small business owner was simply out of luck. Radio was cheaper and so was newspaper, but still for those who had a small budget, they had to rely on word of mouth. Once the internet came along, people finally had a cheap way of advertising. It did not take long for people to pick up on this.

Still, the internet has one disadvantage over all the other forms of advertising. With television, radio, newspaper and billboard advertising, you can broadcast to the masses. When you watch a baseball game on television, you do not have a choice about what advertisements will play. You are bombarded with these ads without a choice in the matter. The same can be said of radio or television. It is a fact of life in this modern day of communication. Of course now there is Tivo so you can skip commercials, but if you want to watch something live, you might as well forget about it.

The internet is a targeted audience. If someone is not interested in what you have to sell, they will never visit your site. In the same way, if a person cannot find your site then what good is the site in the first place? Pay per click has changed all that. Pay per click allows you to show up on the first page of any search and the first page is the holy grail of internet advertisers. Pay per click advertising is a way to reach the exact audience you are looking for.
