One Ohio resident said: “I served my country for two years overseas. I did not expect this type of homecoming. A thief stole my identity and I a long time proving in court that I did not make $7,000 in phone calls to Germany.”

Having your identity stolen can be very frustrating no matter who you are. Unfortunately military personnel are more likely to deal with this because they are often out of the country for extended periods of time.

When a crook obtains your information, they get your social security number, birthday and your entire name. They then proceed to rack up credit cards, cell phones bills, and other personal loans.

The more advanced criminals will add a photo ID when applying for credit. This allows them to apply for bigger loans from the banks, such as cars or boats loans.

Even if you leave America for a lengthy amount of time you could be targeted for identity theft. Criminals love people that do not monitor their personal information or their credit information. Thieves will do your monitoring but at a large expense to you that is!

Get protected! Several identity thefts and credit problems could have been prevented or caught sooner if you pay closer attention. Do not wait a whole year without checking on your credit. You will save lots of money and time this way.

Who wants to come home and be denied your credit use or have stacks and stacks of bills? To make things even worse it can take several months to a year or more to iron out all the issues created by this type of crime.

Most people know of many risks they take when they in list in the military. But they do not tell you that your identity can be in great danger when you serve overseas for long periods of time.

Only you can protect yourself, military or not! Obtain your credit report before leaving the country. You need to monitor your credit while you are gone to avoid any unwanted problems.

In our current economic situations you can not risk ruining your credit! Don’t let criminals take advantage of you being out of the country. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Obtain your credit report now, and be prepared for emergencies tomorrow.
