The era of cheap credit has long since passed, and it is unsurprising that those poeple took out large loans throughout the period when credit was easy to come by are encountering more and more difficulties in staying ahead of their repayments. Many are really suffering and increasingly encountering problems keeping up to date with their monthly debt repayments. But, unfortunately things may still get worse before they get better as rising unemployment starts to bite.

Perhaps it is therefore not surprising that with folk defaulting on their debt more and more there is rapidly rising demand for credit repair program to be implemented in order to restore some semblance of order in people’s financial affairs. It is actually a sound idea and one certainly to be encouraged. Unfortunately such circumstances do make such folk vulnerable to the con-man or fraudulent company out there looking to compound peoples misery by taking advantage for their own personal gain just when that persons finances are most stretched.

You don’t understand what I am talking about? Well, I am referring to the startling claims, made on the web, or by email of companies or individuals who claim to be able to repair your credit quickly and painlessly. OK, but how will you be able to tell when the claim is false rather than legitimate? It’s not as hard as you might think. Indeed there are usually several informative signals to which you should be alert.

If you’ve ever heard the phrase - if it looks too good to be true, it probably is? If you have then you will know to apply it to just such situations as we are addressing here. If the offer of help seems solve all your problems in one easy go, without any real effort on your behalf, then the claim is almost certainly false. Credit reports cannot be cleaned overnight, CCJ’s that have not been settled within one month of issue cannot easily be removed, and the unpalatable truth is that credit repair is often a lengthy process.

Is the advert very salesy, tempting you in and then bombarding you with fabulous stories of their success stories? Stand back and take a look at the advert objectively, does it have a spam feel? What is the email address? Does it really look as though it comes from a reputable organization, or does it actually look like a spam webmail account? Is there a website? What is it’s url? Does the url match up with the information on the contact page? Is there a contact number that reflects the bricks and mortar address? If you have any doubts about the answers to these questions then the best advice would be leave well alone and seek your help elsewhere.

Finally, under no circumstances should you agree to pay the company a fee in advance, nor, if they seem to be offering a debt consolidation package should you do sign up without first taking independent advice. You may never see your money again if you pay a fee in advance and attempts to contact the fraudsters will most likely prove futile. And the debt consolidation loan is likely to pay a big fee to the fraudster but leave you with a usurious rate of interest on the debt with the distinct possibility that you will be in worse financial difficulties than before.

Fortunately, you should know that instigate the process of credit repair. It is not very expensive, the steps you have to undertake are not complex and with a bit of effort and a bit of patience you will soon start to experience the very real benefits that can be achieved repairing your own credit.
