Bad Realtors and Indianapolis Real Estate

When you shop for a home on the Indianapolis real estate market, you will encounter a number of realtors, both good and bad. How do you know which ones will work with you on the home you want and which ones will try to put you in a rotten deal? Many realtors are generally nice, but with the recent explosion of new housing divisions along the outskirts of Indianapolis, it has become increasingly hard to find a realtor that won’t try to steer you towards a property they’ve been charged with unloading. The following are some items to consider when dealing with realtors in Indianapolis.

There are a great number of new homes that have entered the Indianapolis real estate market. This happened because many home builders were trying to build homes more quickly than anyone could actually buy them. Because of this, there are plenty of homes in the area that have no one living in them. The realtor companies then lease the houses and allot them to agents that will sell them on you.

When a realtor approaches you, they will show you many different kind of quality Indianapolis real estate. This is ok, and a lot of the places will seem like nice homes. However, when you decide to start asking about other homes that are for sale in the neighborhood, they turn a deaf ear to you. Most of the time, they don’t have a personal or financial stake vested in the property, so they’re not interested in helping your buy it.

Also, the piece of Indianapolis real estate that you’re being shown isn’t the truest representation of it. Again, the realtor’s goal is to sell the property, not necessarily help you. It’s their job to make the property seem the most appealing and for you not to really notice the difference between the advertisements and the real property. If you want a home with two stories don’t simply take the one offered first, and don’t settle for a partially fenced yard. Realtors know there’s a home you want somewhere.

For realtors to be able to keep their jobs, they have to sell a certain number of homes in order to reach their sales quota. Usually, they won’t be kept as a member of the company if they don’t sell a certain number of homes. Because of this, they have to sell regardless of the buyer’s wants or lose their jobs.

Realtors aren’t bad people for doing this; they’re just trying to do their jobs, same as any of us. The problem is that you are the one that knows what you need from a home, and if someone is pushing a piece of Indianapolis real estate on you and doesn’t seem to be listening when you say no, then maybe it’s time to find someone else to help you.

When you happen to be looking for Indianapolis real estate, it’s best to look in a well-off area that has plenty of education and career potential. Don’t allow one realtor to hold you back from getting the home you want for you and your family.
